OA High Adventure Scholarships

The Mishigami Lodge Order of the Arrow High Adventure (OAHA) scholarship provides monetary support to  Arrowmen within the lodge by paying a full scholarship to one of the Order of the Arrow High Adventure  programs: Florida Sea Base’s OA Ocean Adventure (OAOA), Philmont Scout Ranch’s OA Trail Crew (OATC),  Northern Tier’s, along with coordination from Quetico Provincial Park in Canada, OA Canadian Odyssey (OACO), Northern Tier’s OA Wilderness Voyage  (OAWV), and the Summit Bechtel Reserve’s OA Summit Experience (OASE).

Each year, five scholarships are available on a competitive selection basis. An Arrowmen can only receive one scholarship in a calendar year. The purpose of the OA High Adventure Scholarship program is to recognize and support Brotherhood or Vigil Arrowmen who have answered the call of service to Mishigami Lodge and wish to continue their service through the high adventure bases. This scholarship provides participating Arrowmen an opportunity to enrich their Order of the Arrow experience through participation in one of these high adventure programs.

The purpose of the OA High Adventure (OAHA) Scholarship program is to recognize and support Brotherhood Arrowmen who have answered the call of service to Mishigami Lodge and wish to continue their service through the high adventure bases. The scholarship provides participating Arrowmen an opportunity to enrich their Order of the Arrow experience through participation in one of these high adventure programs. These programs are a “mountain-top” experience of what the OA represents: brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service. It is for this reason that the lodge has established the OA High Adventure scholarship, to not only support these programs but to also offer financial assistance for Arrowmen to help pay for the program costs.

Although it is not a requirement to be an active member in the Mishigami Lodge to participate in any of the OA High Adventure programs, this High Adventure scholarship is reserved for active Brotherhood and Vigil lodge members who exhibit interest in service as well as a future commitment to the Order of the Arrow in our lodge. We expect the recipient to continue their service in the lodge as well as bring their enthusiasm gained from these programs back to our lodge, their chapter, and their unit. We ask each recipient at the end of their experience to provide the lodge with an account of their experiences that can be posted on the lodge website for recognition and promotion of the programs and the scholarship.

The scholarship covers the cost of the OA High Adventure program. The cost of transportation is the responsibility of the individual lodge member.
